Hello there! Happy hump day and welcome to a new edition of What I Ate Wednesday. Nothing new and exciting to report here. However, if you like food (which most of us do) this WIAW post will be just your thing! This is a breakdown of everything I ate yesterday, and featured a lot of the usual suspects in this neck of the woods.
If you are a new reader to The Bikini Experiment (welcome!) – these posts are a little something I usually share every week to show what a day of typical eating looks like for me. I always hope that it will inspire you in the meal and snack creation department too. I believe with a little planning nutritious eats can easily be part of your day.
Let us jump into the food!
WIAW #37: Meal Prep Appreciation
This is a classic breakfast meal that I think I have featured on the blog about a half a dozen times. I prefer to have a more substantial breakfast so I am not hungry until lunch. I chopped up a half of a plantain (love them), along with one slice of bacon and about a small zucchini. I cooked this mixture on the stove with coconut oil. When it was done I used the same pan to fry up two eggs to place on top. Coffee was consumed during all this cooking nonsense.
I had some errands to run including an appointment for my car so after working a bit I got ready to head out. Beverages of course! Water and an iced green tea. I would have preferred the iced green tea refresher I featured last week, but kept it simple this time. A Caveman bar just in case everything took longer than expected. My current go-to is the Wild Blueberry. And done!
Back home a few hours later all drinks consummed, errands completed and bar demolished. Time for a late lunch. Chicken, avocado and kale. I added mustard for flavor similar to this recipe. It did the trick and I moved on to bigger and better things!
I worked through the afternoon and stopped for one quick snack. Another classic for the win! An apple with peanut butter. I normally buy almond butter or seed butter, but I weakened a little at Trader Joe’s because there is something about the pb that takes me back to childhood. Almond butter? Not so much!
Why are the other butters better than peanut butter? Well, the nutrition facts are roughly the same. Peanut butter in some odd twice of fate is not actually from nuts because peanuts are legumes. Go figure. However, peanuts are less clean and often viewed as being a food that are highly susceptible to mold and toxins. I decided to live on the edge this time. Crazy, I know…
Around 6ish, I decided to shut down the ole computer and head on up to our apartment gym for a quick workout. Anything after 11AM at the garage is a no go now that we are in the thick of July. This girl needs air conditioning!
Workout, sweating, recycled photo, no big deal.
Very simple meal thrown together quickly. The best kind right? Hence my love/hate affair with meal prep. This took minutes to come together, but it was all prepped ahead of time. It is nice when the bad memory of slicing a spaghetti squash has faded from memory. A little wine on the side, just because. Grass-fed burger and a fiesta of squash with marinara sauce.
All right kids. I have a date to catch up on True Detective with Scott. Are you watching this season? I am sure there will be a few pieces of chocolate consumed, but that will most likely wrap up the day.
Peace out for now!
Question of the Day:
- What is your favorite nut butter?
- Red or white wine?
