“Be thankful for what you have; you’ll end up having more. If you concentrate on what you don’t have, you will never, ever have enough”…Oprah Winfrey
Hi! I hope you are having a wonderful day so far…
Today is Thanksgiving and I want to wish you all a wonderful day filled with great food and time with loved ones. Most of all I want to wish you a day with peace in your heart. Pass on the knowledge that you have everything you need right now. Your blessings are plentiful.
I received an email last week from the Oscar Insurance Company who is sponsoring the #WeAreThankful project. They were reaching out to me to request I write a post centered on gratitude for the holiday season. The timing seemed absolutely perfect because I had recently been gathering my thoughts on that very thing.
Gratitude has been a huge part of my mindset this past year. I even started the 100 Days Happys challenge late last summer to further push myself into a better mental space. This past year has been a very challenging one for me emotionally, financially and even spiritually. I lost my job last November, and at the time it was a devastating loss. It set me on a completely different life path. I am now pursuing a career in health coaching and fitness which had been backseat passions for me for the past few years. I also moved to Austin. My life resembles little of what it did a year ago. Change is uncomfortable even when it is moving you in the best possible direction. Everything feels a little in flux right now, but I am very hopeful of what the next year will bring.
My reflection upon those things for which I am extra thankful.
My wonderful and supportive boyfriend who always puts a smile on my face. I fell in love with him almost four years ago. I still think he is the cutest thing that I have ever seen. His parents who have been so generous, kind and helpful to us.
My mom who is strong and amazing. I owe her everything, and miss her every day. My sister…she is ten years younger than me. I love that we get a little closer all the time and the age gap feels less and less. I am so excited that she got engaged this month. This is going to be such a wonderful time for her.
My gradmother who turned 90 yesterday. How amazing is that?
There is never a day that I take my health for granted. I have had both health issues and injuries in the past. Waking up every day pain free is an incredible blessing. I consider being able to go to the gym a true gift. It is not something everyone gets to do.
After living in New Jersey my whole life, it is a bit of an adventure exploring new surroundings. New food, restaurants, shops and people.
Wearing a t-shirt at a farmers market in November is bizarre when my family in New Jersey is gearing up for the snow.
My New Attitude
I feel like the changes I have experienced the past year have made me a different person. I used to ignore everything that was wrong by searching for the perfect shoes or handbag. I thought if I found that “one thing” it could turn on happiness like a switch. I have been reminded that the answers are always on the inside.
I am very new to blogging, and I try to improve with every post I write. I am so grateful for those who read the blog on a regular basis – both commenters and silent readers! You are all appreciated. Thank you for helping to make The Bikini Experiment such a positive place.
#WeAreThankful. I am thankful. This is my thought today.
