Diamonds are a girl’s best friend…Marilyn Monroe, Gentlemen Prefer Blondes
Next week is Valentine’s Day, and I kicked off a little celebration around here with a delicious smoothie recipe yesterday. Big advantages for your heart health! Acknowledging those you love this week is also very important. Scott and I have plans to have a classic little outing of a dinner/movie date on Saturday. He usually buys me flowers, but this year I told him to save the money and we are just exchanging cards. There are lots of Valentine’s Day Gift Ideas out there!
Here is a roundup of my suggestions for small gifts that could be perfect to give someone as a Valentine. Mom, sister, boyfriend, husband or friend. They should all feel special!
Valentine’s Day Gift Ideas
Speaking of cards, I love giving and receiving them. When I have a little extra time at the drug store I will even glance through the isles for upcoming occasions. They are inexpensive, and good for men and women! Easy peasy.
Flowers are more of a gift traditionally given to women of course. I personally love the selections at Whole Foods and Trader Joe’s. They are amazing quality at very reasonable prices. Flowers are a little more costly to send so I would recommend another option entirely.
For men, plants are often a great choice instead. Scott’s dad is an avid gardener and I have given him a variety of potted plants for his garden on various holidays.
Marilyn was right, but sometimes a gift of diamonds can be a little spendy. I am still hugely on the bracelet bandwagon and there are lots of costume varieties you can buy that are not too costly. My mom actually made me the bracelet with the red beads.
There is always something special when something is homemade. I am not very crafty, but from what I have gathered, Pinterest has something you can make in every category.
There are lots of options for the coffee drinker to make it a personal choice. Even a bag of fresh beans along with a fresh treat from Starbucks or Whole Foods can make someone’s day.
Need I say more?
Tickets open up a world of possibilities! Movies, concerts, comedy shows, dance recitals, theatre and sports are up for grabs in this category. Tickets to spent time with your special someone, your mom or a great friend make an awesome gift choice. Scott and I had a great time seeing the Hubbard Street Dance Group a few weeks ago.
Quality time is really important in any relationship. A new class is a great way to stay active and enjoy being together. Booking a class or can be a really fun surprise depending on the recipient. Scott and I have gone to yoga classes together in the past, and my sister and I used to go to them at Lifetime too. I recently took myself on a date to Barre3 in Austin!
Wine may not be the most personal gift, but a few glasses and relaxing at home can be a very nice treat. This seems to be a big season of hibernation due to the bad weather (in most) areas. I saw the cutest wine bottle in my travels this week that was decorated with a heart themed wrapper. I was in a hurry so I did not snap a pic, but there is absolutely a way to make it fun and holiday themed.
Austin Woman Magazine perhaps? No, you do not have to read it together, but a magazine subscription is an option for anyone in your life. There are so many choices in the fashion, health/fitness and beauty realms. OF course these are usually what I select.
A book of poems or a best seller are always appreciated. I have a kindle, but still dig paper. I am an old fashioned kind of girl.
These are not just for women! Everyone appreciates a scarf. Last Christmas, Scott insisted he was going to start a trend of infinity scarves for men. I am not sure if it is catching on so we debate the success of his movement now and again.
This is obvioiusly a ploy to crash this month’s fashion post. Am I right?
