Busy Holiday Babes
As much as we all love baking treats in the kitchen sometimes there just isn’t enough hours in the day! This festive mix will provide you with the best of both worlds. Have some fun getting crafty for that lucky someone on your gift list! At the same time make life easier for yourself when it comes to your role as Santa’s helper. A girl only has so much time in the day!
I love whipping these up and I hope you do. I created this one with you in mind! Trail mix is always a great little snack and there are so many ways you can vary it to keep it fun and interesting. There is something to appeal to everyone’s taste buds. It’s simply perfect for a healthy and fun homemade holiday gift.
It also seems totally providential that coconut flakes are almost identical to snow! I am sure that the reindeer would agree.
- ½ Cup Granola
- ½ Cup Apple Chips (Crushed)
- ⅓ Cup Raw Almonds
- ⅓ Cup Sunflower Seeds
- ¼ Dried Cranberries
- ¼ Dark Chocolate Chips or Chunks
- ⅓ Cup Unsweetened Coconut (your snowflakes)
- Select an appropriately sized mason jar.
- Layer your ingredients one by one.
- Add a bit of decorative and seasonal flair.
Whenever possible try to buy raw nuts and seeds. This means they have not been roasted so they are closer to their natural state. I actually think they taste better too! The nutrition profile is usually more or less the same. However, eating less adulterated nuts has been shown to be much better for you and your body.
This article explains in more detail the processing that takes place for those more jazzed up nuts. There are a lot of crazy nut concoctions out there that have a lot of chemicals and additives. Hard to believe, right? Be proactive by reading your labels as always.
Enjoy these last few days before the holidays! Keep the stress low and your spirits high!
