Learn to prepare fast and delicious meals to see results!
Nutrition is a confusing concept at best. There’s so much information out there that it can feel overwhelming to figure out where to start. That’s why you’re here.
If you are in a situation like I was a few years ago, I know you are feeling a little lost. The idea of eating right starts to feel like a losing battle.
You believe you are doing the right things by choosing snack labels that say “healthy” and eating salads like it’s your job.
You think you are accounting for your weekend indulgences.
Why are the results not showing up? Your approach just isn’t working the way it should.
Macros for Weight Loss
Macronutrients is a simple term to explain the way our foods are categorized. Very simply this is where the breakdown of fats, proteins and carbohydrates come into play. I dismissed this approach for a long time, but started to look at it in a new way after I pursued my nutritional coaching certification through Precision Nutrition.
Macros are information. Much like the number on the scale that seems to go up and down with no rhyme or reason. Just eating healthy is too general if we want to see real results in the mirror.
Understand what we are eating teaches us to fuel our bodies with what we need. Otherwise we are just guessing what will work for us.
If you think I’m preaching crazy talk here - pause and think about it for a moment. Sure, almonds are a good for you food choice, but if that’s all you ate in a day then the transformation you are looking for will surely allude you.
There’s a right way to balance your food choices and enjoy what you eat at the same time!
When I recently asked my audience what piece of nutrition information was most helpful, the most common response was quick recipes! I love a good fast recipe for sure! I was so happy to see that my macro meal approach was what you wanted to see.

The Alternative = A Guessing Game
There are a million recipes floating out there on the internet. Let’s say you hunt down any random healthy recipe for a weeknight dinner. After gathering all those ingredients, it takes you way longer than you expect to cook and clean up. We've all been there!
You get so fed up that you decide that you don’t really care about the portion you ate or its macros! Or you have to take the time (which you don’t have because you have to boogie and get ready for work the next day) to do the math yourself.
Neither approach is helping you get where you want to go!
My Realization About Macros
I originally dismissed the idea of counting macros because I thought it was for the “crazies” out there who wanted to fit an ice cream cone into their diet while still losing weight. “If If Fits the Macros” (IIFYM) was a popular term thrown around on the internet and social media at the time. Heck, it still is!
I thought this was all a bit ridiculous and continued eating in a way that worked for me at the time. But that changed about two years ago when I decided I want to gain a few pounds and it ended up getting out of control.
With no guidelines of any kind I started adding those “healthy treats” to my diet like pastured bacon, dark chocolate and almond butter by the jar. How Paleo of me right? Those few pounds turned into over 10 very quickly. Talk about clean eating gone wrong. I was choosing well, but not accounting for massive calorie increases.
I felt completely uncomfortable in my skin and wanted to shed the weight fast. Sound familiar? But I knew better and didn’t want to diet down on a tasteless diet of veggies, chicken and egg whites as a temporary fix. There had to be a way I could maintain my weight while having a lifestyle I could maintain.
I used the macro counting approach to lose the weight and it was a total game changer for me. I once ate about 1300 calories a day and now that number is almost 2000. Macro counting works. Recipes that have macros counted for you work even better.
