Today I am sharing my EverlyWell review and my experience with their at home health testing with EverlyWell. I truly believe it is so important to understand what’s really going on with your body. It is absolutely crucial to learn as much information as possible so that we can all pursue personal wellness. I truly believe it is the most important asset that we have in life.
EverlyWell Review + Special Discount Code
I took the plunge and decided to get my nutrition coaching certification almost two years ago. As I dove deeper into my studying I began to learn much more than I even though possible. Beyond the food we eat, there are many factors at play when it comes to how we process macronutrients (carbohydrates, proteins and fats). Hormones, our age, allergies, and food sensitivity are also incredibly key.
For a long time, I debated getting myself tested through one of the many websites I saw online. Many had tremendously positive reviews. However, I always ended up deleting my order from the shopping cart due to high cost. As much as I wanted more information it was not financially realistic since they were very expensive. No doubt, this is the reason that prompts many people to live in wonder as to whether they are truly making healthy choices at the food store.
As I got distracted by other things the food sensitivity testing fell off my radar. I would sometimes notice I would not feel my best after eating x,y or z. However, with minimal information it was truly just a guessing game to determine what’s best for our needs.
Naturally I was very excited to be selected for this opportunity to partner with Fit Approach and EverlyWell to try their convenient at home testing kit in an Everlywell review. I was excited to learn more and jumped online to order my test right after I received the communication. I was also really looking forward to sharing my EverlyWell review with all of you.
101 Common Foods
I ordered the food sensitivity kit (this item retails at $199) which measures 101 common foods in American Diets including Gluten, Milk, Soy, Peanut and Avocado. It was as simple a process as any website order. The kit arrived at my doorstep within a week. From my own personal research, I can confirm that that price is an absolute steal compared to some of the others I considered.
Testing Kit Materials
- Welcome Letter
- Finger Prick
- Testing Panel
- A Lollipop
The Testing Process
For me, the testing process was a little difficult. I get a little nervous around blood or any types of needles. So I had to completely overcome that fear to complete this test on myself. However, once I felt calm about the process it was complete in around 10 minutes.
You prick your finger and simply add droplets of blood to the testing panel.
In the Mail
Once my package was sealed, I simply dropped it off in the mail.
Once my package was received my test results were emailed to me within two days. I logged into the portal and it was very easy to see and understand my results to share in my Everlywell review.
A food reactivity is different than an immediately life-threatening food allergy. Food reactivity is an immune response by the IgG antibody, the largest circulating antibody in our immune system and can cross the placenta from mother to child. Some studies suggest that up to 20% of the population may have reactivity to certain foods, and these reactivities contribute to Irritable Bowel Syndrome, headaches, types of arthritis, autism, ADD/ADHD, eczema, chronic ear infections, gut malabsorption, insomnia and many chronic conditions. Identifying possible offending foods can be difficult since we eat so many different types of food. (Source, EverlyWell)
My Test Results
The test covers the most popular foods to gauge sensitivity if you are wondering why particular selections are included.
I did show higher sensitivity to the following foods broken down by category:
- Chia Seeds
EverlyWell provides a reactivity scale and breaks down each food to show your level of reaction. It is very straightforward and easy to understand so you can make adjustments to your get as necessary.
While I will not totally cut these foods out of my diet I will definitely be mindful of the amounts I am consuming since my sensitivity did not rate that high on the reactivity scale. I also thought it was a great touch that Everly sent me a follow up communication to see if I needed any type of continued support. That outreach also made it feel like I was part of a community rather than just another person who had ordered a test.
I think this test is straight forward and one of the most affordable food sensitivity testing options I have seen available. The only tough part is working past any hesitation you may have with blood. However, it’s a small price to pay for so much valuable information.
- Taken at home
- Understandable Results
- Affordable Price Point
- Easy to Administer
- No Fasting Necessary
- Follow Up Support
