Another day, another Austin adventure! Follow along as I get a little sweaty at a downtown event. A class with The Barre Code at our trendy True Food Kitchen. Fun and fitness always goes well together!
The Barre Code at True Food Kitchen
You all know that I am weight training girl at heart. However, I love to mix it up occasionally with something different. Classes are a wonderful way to get a little more social with your fitness. This can be hard to do when your headphones are on and you’re looking for a dumbbell at the gym.
I am a big fan of yoga and enjoy dance and barre classes as well. Naturally I was very excited when I received an exclusive invite to attend a class with The Barre Code being hosted at True Food Kitchen.
True Food Kitchen
If you follow me on Instagram you may have seen that I attended a pre-opening press luncheon at True Food Kitchen in March. Dr. Andrew Weil was in attendance and we had the opportunity to talk about the restaurant’s food philosophy. He was all about good and wholesome food that was reasonably priced, but delicious.
The Barre Code
It seemed like a perfect fit for True Food and The Barre Code to partner for this event. The Barre Code will be officially opening their studio downtown within the next few weeks. However, this was a chance to experience one of the classes they offer. Their focus is on a well rounded instruction so their classes include a variety of different styles.
Total Body Conditioning
Cami Kirchner, Owner & Master Trainer, led us through a Total Body Conditioning class. This class is a a bootcamp-style workout that includes full body exercises and cardio intervals.
The class normally involves a lot of props and heavier weights. However, since we were outside bodyweight was used to make have the class fit the situation. This was a new experience for me since I have never been outside of a studio or gym for a class. It definitely made me want to try more!
All the refreshing drinks at the True Food Kitchen are a stand-out. When I went to the luncheon I sampled every non-alcoholic drink on the menu! This was a kiwi refresher with chia seeds. It hit the spot after a sweaty class. We don’t typically experience much rain in Austin, but thunderstorms were on the horizon and you could feel it in the air.
After the class I chatted with a few new people (classes = social) and learned a little more about The Barre Code.
Out and About
Get out there this weekend! A healthy lifestyle is all about trying new things and making connections. Discover things you may never have tried or thought you would have liked. Adventure and new experiences help you to live the life you have imagined for yourself.
