Good afternoon folks! Hope everyone is enjoying this first Friday of fall. I was up early this morning and pretty much every day this week. It was one of my goals for the month and it is going fairly well so far. The first day felt a little bit like I was going back to school, but I scheduled an early appointment so I had to rise and go with it. I have had to adjust certain things in my schedule which I did not expect. I went to the gym last night around 7:00, and I felt like I was hit with a tranquilizer dart the moment I walked inside. Cardio was the only thing on my agenda, but it was certainly less than intense. I did a little elliptical and then promptly left. Obviously, any workouts are going to have to be earlier in the day.
As I was catching up on some emails and such this morning, I saw my sister had shared this article on her Facebook Page, and I thought it was hysterical. It is 25 Things All Basic White Girls Do in the Fall and I found myself laughing throughout the list of common things we all do. I do not indulge in the Pumpkin Spice Latte at Starbucks per last Friday’s Favorite Things, and ironically that is the first item listed in this article. If you want some laughs check it out here. What are some of the things I always do? I definitely take the prerequisite picture with my autumn pumpkin and flash my boots, burn seasonal candles and show off infinity scarves. Love it!
I am posting a little on the later side today because I am getting used to my new computer and going back and forth since all of my old documents and such are on my old one. Thankfully mine did not die, but Scott just set this up for me and I am so excited to be using it! Which leads us to my favorite things on this Friday…
My New Computer – I have wanted a new computer for the longest time. Mine was never really awesome from the start and it was taking forever to work on anything. As we all know that can be a total drag. I found myself wanted to throw it across the room a few times. Scott had ordered one a while back through Groupon, and never set it up for himself. Since I clearly was the one in greater need, he gave it to moi. This is the best thing that could have landed in my lap right now. It is as light as a feather too. I am looking forward to getting it set up and organized this weekend.
Zoya Nail Polish in Pepper – As a bit of a self-confessed nail polish addict one of the seasonal changes I really enjoy is the opportunity to switch my color palette. The heat is still going strong in Austin, and I predict boots and sweaters are a bit of a ways off for me. So even though I am still decked out in shorts and tank tops my feet can celebrate fall.
Zoya nail polish is one of my absolute favorites. It is free of the numerous chemicals that are in most brands. The color collection is also extensive and there is a wonderful variety. I highly recommend checking it out here. They are sold on Amazon too, but I have not seen them in any stores. It is a little pricier than some brands, but I feel it is worth it for the quality difference.
Hummus – I go in phases with hummus. I will eat it every day, and then skip it for weeks. Part of the reason for this is that I always felt pressured to finish the entire package before it went bad. I found these little guys in Whole Foods on one of my recent visits and they are the perfect serving size.
They keep well because they are individually wrapped. The packs would be great to pack in a lunch bag or as a snack with crackers or cut up vegetables.
Organic Applegate Hot Dogs – My 2nd food favorite this week. These had popped up in one of my meals on one of my old WIAW. These babies by Applegate are grass-fed and organic. I like them with sautéed veggies and avocado for lunch or dinner. They were actually on my Instagram last night too. They are so fast and easy to cook. Perfect for when you are crunched for time or need an easy meal.
Low Blue Light Glasses – Sleep is no joke for me. Some nights I struggle with shutting down and falling asleep. I like in bed making mental to-do lists. So restful right? Well, there is more and more research that all of our light exposure contributes to that anxious feeling at night that will not allow us to get a good night’s rest. Scott had a pair of glasses from Low Blue Lights that I ordered for his birthday and he has always said he feels a big difference. They are great for cancelling out all the blue light from traditional light bulbs as well as the many devices we use. I found an inexpensive pair on Amazon and they arrived this week. So far I do feel a positive difference.
