TGIF! It’s a rainy Friday in New Jersey. I have some fitness related plans this weekend which include a local Fitness Crawl in the area. Think of a bar crawl, but replace it with a Cross Fit Box and a Pilates Studio, swap the cocktails for recovery drinks, and you have the concept down. I am not sure how this will all pan out given the dreary weather. I am not a huge fan of doing anything in the rain so we shall see. It is a reminder that living in a place with year round sunny skies is a goal of mine!
In the meantime, I will stick to the Friday game plan of sharing some things that I have been loving this week. It occurred to me the other day that I have been doing this a while and I have not been keeping track of these items so I hope I am not repeating myself. If so, in my defense I figure if I have forgotten then you have too, and it’s entirely possible to love the same thing multiple times.
K&K looked amazing with their tans and all their necklaces and bracelets so of course I had to have one. I remember when I purchased mine a while back it was the one that I was instantly attracted to and symbolized new beginnings.
For those of you who do not know mala beads are meditation garlands that have been worn for thousands of years in traditions of Buddhism, Hinduism, yoga and meditation. Ironically when I was on their site this morning I clicked on the article about how to choose a mala or let it choose you so that I could share a little more enlightenment if you decide you want to make the purchase for yourself. The article linked to the blog of Kris Car who was the star behind “Crazy Sexy Cancer” a few years ago and was prominently featured in Hungry for Change which I saw at movie night earlier this week. Everything is connected I swear! Here is the article about mala beads if you want to learn more.
Quick Workouts – I love the gym environment and really do honestly enjoy the hour or so I will typically spend there during a regular workout. However, there are times when you are traveling or simply cannot take the time to get to the gym that you need a quick circuit to fill in the gaps. I shared a quick ab circuit yesterday that you can do anytime or anywhere to start to get ready for beach season. You can check it out here if you have a chance.
Pumps & Iron – I recently came across Nicole’s blog when my sister forwarded me one of her recipes to check out. I believe it was for quinoa muffins, and while I have yet to make the muffins I have been enjoying her blog regularly. I thought the blog name was super-cute and I find her style of writing to be totally relatable and down to earth. Her workout outfits are super coordinated too. It’s inspiring me to add more color to my rather extensive collection of black leggings.
4-rth– Speaking of clothing…my love for organic food is making a cross over! 4-rth is an amazing online clothing site dedicated to organic clothing. I received this tank recently as a gift and the fabric feels absolutely amazing. The price for most of the women’s clothing is pretty reasonable too. See below for the requisite gym selfie.
365 Organic Unsweetened Vanilla Almond Milk – My favorite alternative milk out there! I prefer almond milk to coconut milk most of the time (just a taste preference) and this is hands down the best brand in my opinion.
The consistency is not too watery, and if you look at the ingredient list there are no additives or thickeners. 365 is the Whole Foods store brand and it was actually an inexpensive item. Perhaps it is possible to save money at Whole Pay Check?
Question of the Day: What is one thing/person/event that is making you smile this week?
