Great twist on the classic turkey burger from Quick Meals with Macros! This easy dish is a perfect choice for a weeknight dinner.
The following post is sponsored by NOW Foods through Fitfluential. While I was compensated to travel and share my takeaways, all thoughts and opinions of this event remain my own. #getfitnow
Last week I was fortunate enough to travel to Chicago to attend the NOW Foods Immersion. When I first started blogging years ago, this was the type of trip I dreamed of attending. And it definitely met my expectations and beyond. Keep on reading to get the details! And also head on over to my Instagram to enter for this epic giveaway! You’ll get the exact swag bag I received. And let me tell you – it’s pretty darn awesome.
2017 NOW Foods Immersion
NOW Foods though of every detail and packed our trip with information, education, and most of all fun! I seriously had a great time getting to know their brand, touring their facility and getting to be surrounded with a dynamic group of people who share the same passion for health and fitness.
Arrival in Chicago
I was the first person to arrive at the hotel on Thursday morning after a quick flight from Austin. I was created by the NOW Foods Team and then checked into my room. There was an incredibly generous swag bag waiting for me. And if you head on over to my Instagram – you have the chance to enter and win this for yourself!
I headed down to grab a quick lunch and other event guests began trickling in. I had the opportunity to meet with Julie from Running in a Skirt, and Liz from The Clean Eating Couple as we talked all things blogging, fitness and travel. Such fun girls! And of course we ALL ordered the same salad.
We ended up talking for quite a while and then needed to go back to our rooms to get ready for our group dinner. That night we headed out to dinner at Glen Prairie Restaurant with our group and about 10 members of the NOW Foods Team.
Glen Prairie Restaurant
Jim Emme, the CEO of NOW Foods, spoke about the history of the brand and their passion for making health products and supplements more widely available to everyone. As he put it – if you have to choose between a vitamin or filling your gas tank – you’ll have to choose the gas tank. Their commitment is to keep their margin small so they can reach more people. Love this mission! I also love that their claims are regulated by the FDA.
The dinner was delicious too!
Friday was absolutely jam packed and it was awesome. I really can’t believe we managed to do so much in one day. We started the day with meeting up for a R.I.P.P.E.D. workout at the hotel fitness facilities. I am not coordinated at all and there were quite a few dance moves in the class, but I managed to keep up…I think. And there were squats too, so that was good.
We grabbed smoothies that were already made for us and headed into a session to learn more about essential oils. Tina Tews, their personal care brand manager, shared more about the products and explained the claims of their products. She explained that they source the oils from the same places that pricier brands do. However, again, they are committed to making products widely available so their prices are competitive.
DIY and Essential Oils
There was also a fun DIY session where we made our own gym mat spray and massage oil. The group at our table was still recovering from the workout so we all asked each other a lot of questions. But it turned out to be a great ice breaker as we tried to perfectly follow the steps to make our own products.
We made plans to meet up for breakfast and all headed back to our rooms for a quick shower, computer break and to pack up for the next stop of the NOW Food Immersion!
NOW Foods Production Tour
Our bus took us over to the NOW Foods production plant to see how they manufacture their products. This was the part I was the most excited about and it didn’t disappoint! I have been using NOW products for years and it was like getting behind the scenes! So cool. And what was also cool was our get up for the tour! Julie and I decided to have some fun with it!
We were led through a tour of the plant and got to see their manufacturing and packaging process for the products and their shipments.
Their quality control was outstanding, and I was impressed that Jim joined us for the tour and knew the names of all the employees. It reinforced for me how the company and their management is committed to created a team family atmosphere.
We were really in the trenches – it was super interesting to see how all this comes together. There are so many details and steps that need to work in order for the process to be seamless.
NOW Foods Sports Supplements
After the tour, we headed towards corporate headquarters for lunch catered by Whole Foods and to learn more about the NOW Sports line. NOW Sports offers high-quality supplements for consumers who are interested in fitness. Scott and I are often blown away by the artificial ingredients in a lot of protein powders and supplements. NOW offers many of the same types of products but with quality and natural ingredients.
Live Video with Fitfluential
Beth, Liz, Julie and Cynthia jumped on a quick live video with Fitfluential (you can check it out here). The CEO, Kelly Olexa, had asked we give a quick talk about our experience and our top takeaways with the NOW Foods Immersion.
I know I am looking forward to trying their Vegan Protein Powder as well as their BCAAs and Pre-Workout Supplements. As a personal trainer I know that supplementing my workouts can lead to better results. But I am always on the hunt for more natural products to accomplish this goal. Excited to try these products after learning about them at the NOW Foods Immersion.
Culinary Innovation Center
Our last stop was the Culinary Innovation Center where we got to hear about new food products and get to sample a few new ones! I had no idea that NOW Foods offered so many different foods for both baking and cooking.
And we had the opportunity to do an oil tasting with their products as well. I ate so much, but it was totally worth it.
We did a quick tour of their grounds including their organic garden. Chef Suzy Singh was a total delight and clearly loves what she does. She was so much fun and super inspiring for all of us.
There was a food bar set up for us to take quinoa bowls with us for our travels. I’m telling you they thought of everything and treated us so well!
I also had fun hanging out with this crew at the airport while we waited for our flights!
I was very honored to be a guest of the NOW Foods Immersion. Thank you again for such an awesome experience!
